Terms of Service
Effective 23 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and CideGIG, 1804-1435 Celebration Drive, Pickering, Ontario L1W 0C4 ("CideGIG", "we", "us"). Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. By using the app, you are agreeing to these Terms of Service.
1. What CideGIG does
CideGIG is a marketplace app, available for jobs anywhere in Ontario. Contractors set their own hourly rate for each job type. Employers book jobs (general labour, moving, handyman) and choose a price range; CideGIG offers each job to nearby available contractors whose rates fall in that range, and the first contractor to accept gets it. CideGIG handles booking, payment and payout. CideGIG does not supervise how the work is done and does not guarantee that a contractor will accept every job.
2. Accounts
- You must be 18 or older and give true, current information. Keep your password private; you're responsible for activity on your account.
- An account is either an employer or a contractor account, chosen when you sign up.
- Before they can accept jobs, contractors must complete Stripe's identity, payout and tax setup, including their social insurance number (SIN) or Business Number, which Stripe collects for CideGIG's reporting to the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Employers must have a valid payment card on file to book.
3. Booking and doing a job
- The employer books a job type, start time (1 hour in advance), booked hours (at least 3, no maximum) and address, then chooses a price range from the contractors available at that time.
- CideGIG offers the job to nearby contractors in the chosen range until one accepts. If no one in that range accepts, the employer can choose another range. If no one accepts by the start time, the job closes and the employer isn't charged. Once a contractor accepts, the employer sees the job's hourly price.
- The contractor taps "I have arrived" from the job site (the app checks the phone's location). Both confirm the start in the app.
- When the work is done, the employer marks the job finished and the contractor confirms.
- The employer and contractor can message each other in the app from acceptance until the job is completed.
4. Prices and payment (employers)
- Rate: the job's hourly price, shown once a contractor accepts: the contractor's own rate plus CideGIG's service fee, plus applicable sales tax (HST in Ontario). It falls within the price range you chose.
- What you pay: time from the confirmed start to the finish, rounded up to the next 15 minutes, with a 3-hour minimum. The booked hours are only an estimate.
- Card hold: about 24 hours before the start (or when a contractor accepts, if later) we place a temporary hold on your card for the booked hours × the hourly price × 1.25, plus tax. If the hold is declined, you have 2 hours to update your card or the job is cancelled with no fee.
- Charge: after the job we charge the actual amount, taken from the hold. If the job ran longer than the hold covers, the difference is charged to the same card. Any unused part of the hold is released.
- Unpaid amounts: if a charge is declined, you can't book again until you update your card and the amount is paid.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize CideGIG to charge your saved card as described in these terms.
5. Cancellations and no-shows
| Situation | Employer pays | Contractor receives |
|---|---|---|
| Employer cancels before a contractor accepts | Nothing | — |
| Employer cancels 30 minutes or more before the start | Nothing | Nothing |
| Employer cancels less than 30 minutes before the start, after a contractor accepted | 1 hour at the job's hourly price, plus tax | 1 hour at the contractor's own rate |
| No contractor accepts by the start time | Nothing | — |
| Contractor hasn't arrived 30 minutes after the start (no-show) | Nothing | Nothing; the job is cancelled |
A no-show counts as a 1-star rating on the contractor's profile. Repeated no-shows may lead to the contractor's account being suspended (see section 10).
6. Contractors
- Independent work: contractors are self-employed and independent, not employees of CideGIG or of the employer. CideGIG does not employ contractors; it connects them with employers through the app. Contractors set their own hourly rate for each job type, choose when they are available, can accept or decline any job offer without penalty, and must bring their own tools and equipment.
- Pay: your own hourly rate for the job × the same billable hours the employer pays for. Your pay is sent to your Stripe account once the employer's payment has cleared, and you can withdraw it to your bank whenever Stripe allows.
- Your rate: you set your hourly rate for each job type on your profile, and can change it at any time; a change applies to jobs offered after it. Rates can't be lower than Ontario's minimum wage. CideGIG's service fee is added on top of your rate and paid by the employer; nothing is deducted from your pay. Each offer shows your rate and estimated pay before you accept.
- HST: if you are registered for GST/HST, enter your number in the app. HST is added to your pay only after CideGIG verifies the number in the CRA registry.
- Taxes: you are responsible for your own income tax and, if registered, for remitting HST. CideGIG reports what it pays you to the CRA each year under the digital-platform reporting rules and sends you a copy by January 31. Stripe collects your SIN for this during setup; you must give correct information, as the law requires it.
- Conduct: arrive on time, do the work safely and as booked, and don't use the job address or the employer's information for anything else. Apart from your first name and star rating, your personal information is not shared with the employer, and exchanging personal information (such as phone numbers, emails or social media) with the employer is against these terms.
7. Employers
- Describe the job honestly, be present or reachable at the start, and provide a safe place to work.
- Don't ask a contractor to do work that needs a licence (for example electrical or gas work), or work outside the job types described in these terms (general labour, moving, handyman).
- After each completed job, leave an honest review of the contractor. You can't book your next job until the review is done.
- Apart from the job details and job address the contractor needs, your personal information is not shared with the contractor, and exchanging personal information (such as phone numbers, emails or social media) with the contractor is against these terms.
8. Ratings, reviews and chat
Reviews must be honest and about the job. A contractor's rating is the average of the star ratings employers give after each completed job, plus an automatic 1-star rating for each no-show; it is shown to employers. Chat is only for coordinating the job: no harassment, threats, discrimination or spam. We may remove content that breaks these rules and keep chat records as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Things you must not do
- Use someone else's account, or give false identity, tax or payment information.
- Arrange to be paid outside CideGIG for a job booked through CideGIG.
- Interfere with the app, its security, or other people's use of it.
- Use CideGIG for anything illegal or unsafe.
10. Suspension and deleting your account
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts people at risk, or has repeated no-shows or unpaid charges. Contractors are not employees, and no notice period applies. A contractor may be removed if their average rating falls below 3 stars, or for misconduct.
You can delete your account at any time from the My Profile page, once no job is in progress and nothing is owed or still being paid out. Deleting your CideGIG account explains what is removed and what is kept.
11. Liability
CideGIG is a marketplace. Employers, contractors and every other user acknowledge and agree that CideGIG is a marketplace that connects employers with independent contractors. CideGIG is not a party to the work agreed between an employer and a contractor, and is not responsible for any damage, loss or injury that one of them causes to the other or to anyone else.
Who is responsible: contractors are solely responsible for the work they do and for any damage, loss or injury caused by doing it. Employers are solely responsible for any harm to contractors caused by the employer, the people at the job site, or the condition of the place where the work is done.
Indemnity: employers, contractors and every other user agree to indemnify and hold harmless CideGIG, its owners and its staff from any claim, damage, loss or cost (including reasonable legal fees) that arises from their dealings with another user, including when submitting job requests, accepting jobs, doing or completing a job, and any payment delay, or from their own breach of these terms.
CideGIG provides the app "as is". The work is done by contractors, not by CideGIG, and CideGIG is not responsible for the quality of the work, for damage to property, or for injuries, except where the law says otherwise. CideGIG carries commercial general liability insurance for its own business; it does not replace any insurance contractors or employers should carry for themselves. To the extent the law allows, CideGIG's total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid CideGIG in the 3 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.
12. Disputes
Contact support@cidegig.com first; we will try to resolve any problem within 30 days. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before an important change, and ask you to agree to the new version in the app. Continuing to use CideGIG after it takes effect means you accept it.
